ORIENTATION CAMP
Orientation 2 and Level Camp have finally ended. Fun and more fun filled the atmosphere during the four days. We played like that was no tomorrow, and we finally figured out the spirit and power of teamwork able to do for us. So, let the story unfold as I bring you the journey of a boy, namely myself , through the orientation of NYJC.
LEVEL CAMP-DAY 1
It was 530am in the morning. I woke up in indisclination of going to school since the March Holidays has just ended. I dragged my heavy feet into the bathroom and did the usual routine cleaning up.
After alighting at NYJC, the mood for fun was already steadily building up with some cheers going on in the hall. After waiting several minutes for the assembly to start, ORIENTATION OFFICALLY STARTED.
My faction was assigned to do the Level Camp(aka Motivational Camp) first. So we did the neccessary registration and training started. We played some unqiuely, unusual, bizzare ice-breaker games. I didn't know that shaking hands can come in 8 forms. And so, for the 1st half and hour, we did some serious handshaking games. Pleasantly, the handshaking did not come atrophied as I got to know some really good friends including a scholar from China.
The master trainer for the programme specifies alot on making a choice. Choices have dreadful consequences if you do not choose wisely. So the first few games didn't went expectantly successful since we all made the choice of not participating 100%. However, things picked up momentarily when we were told umpteen times to reflect the choice we made just now, whether we made a wise one. POWER OF REFLECTION.
It was almost mid-afternoon and it started pouring. The master trainer requested us to write down our goals. After writing it down, he encouraged anyone of us to come to the front and shared it with everyone. There was a moment of hesitiation. A chilling silence occured in the hall. After several minutes of no response, I couldn't stand it! In my mind, I wanted to share my goals with everyone. Accumlating all the courage I can salvaged, I boldy raised up my hand. My hand was cold, chilling, minus -89 degree celsius.I was kindly invited by the Master Trainer to the centre of the hall, in front of 470 people. I was handed over the mike. I hold the mine towards my dry mouth and started stating my goals out loud. In that second, I know I have done the impossible. OUT IN FRONT OF THE HALL WITH 470 PEOPLE STARING AT ME, I ACTUALLY PROCLAMIED MY GOALS?!!!!
After a out of the world sharing session, I went back. UNBELIVABLE?!!!!
The next activitiy was up next. Public speaking. It was kinda of chicken to me after the goal thing. So I went on delivering one of the best speeches of my goal to my classmates.
Guess what is next. STAY TUNED. Need to eat dinner!!!
